FILM EDITOR - FILMMAKER

Smaro Papaevangelou is a film editor and filmmaker based in Athens. She studied at the Film Department of the School of Fine Arts at AUTH, specializing in editing. In 2014, she was selected to participate as an editor in the Talent Campus of the Berlin International Film Festival, and in 2018, she was selected for Sarajevo Talents.

The films she has edited have been screened and awarded at prestigious festivals such as Berlin, Rotterdam, Locarno, Clermont-Ferrand, Palm Springs, Sundance, Toronto, and Venice. In 2022, she was awarded with the Best Editing award from the Hellenic Film Academy for the film Moon, 66 Questions by J. Lentzou, and in 2024, she received the Best National Editor Award from Spicy Indie FF for Super by N. Kouloglou, as well as the Best Editing award from TFSF for Pigeons are Dying When The City Is On Fire by S. Markoulakis.

Smaro is a founding member of the Greek Editors’ Association Blink GFE and a member of the Hellenic Film Academy and Tempo Film Editors. Together with three friends, they co-founded the feminist queer cinema collective Nionia Films.

Her first feature film, Dushterya Mi (working title), is currently in production (Marni Films) with the support of EKKOMED.
