IOANNA TSILILI

DIRECTOR - SCRIPT WRITER

Ioanna Tsilili is an emerging Greek director/writer credited in fiction and documentary films, aiming to create a strong female gaze in cinema and TV series. Surrealism, psychoanalytical inquiry and multileveled ambiguity of reality are reflected in her work.

As a child and an adolescent, she studied classical and jazz music, classical and modern dance and she developed a love for painting, architecture, literature and films.

Growing up, Ioanna studied Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens shortly followed by a specialized master degree at the Enita de Bordeaux with a specialty in Wineries’ Management and Enology. Later on, she became a Master Distiller and Wine & Spirit Expert splitting her life between Greece, France and USA. For over a decade she was the chief Enologist and Master Distiller in her family’s distillery & winery, which is one of the biggest in Greece. Since June 2021, she owns her own winery TSILILIS TERRES.

Since 2015, she decided to embrace her passion for cinema. She studied Acting in Athens and Los Angeles and Film Direction at Stavrakos Hellenic Cinema and Television School in Athens, Greece.

Her experimental documentary “ALL THAT RAIN WASHED AWAY”, premiered in Thessaloniki Documentary Festival in March 2022.  It deals with the way society, press and economy influence the shaping of the female identity.

She is currently developing a short fiction film, a feature documentary film and her first series; all dealing with the female soul.
