FILM EDUCATOR

Evangelia-Liza Themeli studied Philology with specialization in Theater and Cinema at the Department of Philology of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Crete and continued with a postgraduate specialization in the History and Theory of Cinema, successfully completing the research program of the same department with the diploma thesis “The cinema in school education”. Her research interests focus on film education and history, attending and participating in relevant film festivals, conferences, workshops and trainings of a Panhellenic and international level. She has participated in the editing and organization of film events as a member of the Rethymno Students Film Club, the management board of the New Film Club of Heraklion and as an external partner of the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Youth. He has worked as a philologist, as a theater teacher and as a film teacher in the private and public sector. At the moment she is a collaborator of the Hellenic Film Center in the Action Digital Film Platform for Schools. At the same time she ventures as a filmmaker preparing her first film. She declares herself feminist, believing in the struggle of women for a substantial social change.
